How to choose an AI website builder for startups in 2026
Pick the builder by the job your page has to do, then give two or three of them the same brief, the same edit, a phone-width check and an export. Framer and Webflow suit a marketing site you keep redesigning. Lovable and v0 build the product itself. Durable suits a local service business. iter0 builds one launch page from a brief when you have not yet settled what the page should say.

Are AI website builders good enough for a startup landing page?
Yes, for one page with one job: tell a visitor who the product is for, show what it does and ask for one action, such as a signup, a demo request or a waitlist address. Every builder below writes a first draft of that page from a prompt.
Read the draft for anything the tool made up. A builder can fill a gap in your brief with an invented customer, result or integration. Then open the page on your phone. If you have to swipe past an illustration to find the offer, send it back.
Decide what the page needs to say before you pick a tool. If you can name the buyer, the problem, what you promise today and the proof you can publish, a builder turns that into a page faster than you can write one. If you can't, a better tool won't fix it. Call a few customers instead.
What to test in every builder
Pick one real page, such as the waitlist page for your next release, and give every builder the same material. Save each result and put the pages side by side.
Same brief: give each tool the same buyer, offer, approved facts, images and main action, and leave one item out on purpose, such as a customer quote you don't have. A good first draft names the buyer, explains the offer and leaves the quote out. A weak one invents a satisfied customer.
Same edit: change the headline, replace the hero image and move one section. Check that only those things changed and that you can undo the edit. Then read the new text for invented customers, results, prices or urgency. A tool that can't tell a fact from a gap in your brief makes you review every sentence.
Phone width: open the page at 390 pixels wide. The offer and the main button should be in view without searching. Then publish a test copy somewhere safe, submit its form with an address you control, and check the success message and where the submission lands. W3C's form guidance covers labels and submission feedback, and both matter when an AI wrote the form. Last, read the page's HTML for the title, description and canonical URL. Google's SEO starter guide describes these as ways to help visitors and search systems understand a page.
Export: take the page or project out of the builder and open it somewhere else. Note which text, images, code and links come with you and what stays behind, and ask how to delete your prompts and uploaded references if you leave. Then price the plan you would actually need: custom domain, published pages, forms, collaborators, revision limits and usage charges. A cheap plan stops being cheap when every small change needs a specialist or the site can't move.
Which builder does which job
Here are six builders by the job each one does. The table leaves prices out, so look up the plan you would actually buy. The twelve-tool comparison covers Wix, Squarespace, Hostinger and coding agents such as Cursor.
| Builder | Job | What it does | Choose it when |
|---|---|---|---|
| Framer | Visual canvas for a marketing site | Starts from a prompt, a brief or a blank canvas. You then edit typography, components and breakpoints on the canvas. A CMS, managed hosting, analytics and SEO tools are part of the same product. | A designer or marketer will keep editing and publishing the live site in a visual tool. |
| Webflow | Visual canvas with a design system | Generates a site and a starting design system from a prompt. The AI also generates new pages and CMS Collection items in the editor. Connecting a custom domain needs a paid Site plan. | You want a site structure and design system that a team keeps extending. |
| Lovable | Builds the product itself | A full-stack platform. It generates frontend, backend, database, authentication and integrations from plain language, as editable code that syncs to GitHub, GitLab or Bitbucket. | The site is part of a working product that has accounts or stored data. |
| v0 | Builds product code and prototypes | Builds full-stack web apps with AI and plans its own tasks as it builds. It deploys to Vercel with one click and pushes code to your GitHub repository. | Your team works in a code repository and wants interface code it can review and deploy. |
| Durable | All-in-one for a local business | Its homepage is titled AI Business Builder. It combines a website generator with an image studio, SEO tools, reviews, bookings, a CRM and payment processing, and it lists home services, health and wellness, and professional services among its customer groups. | A local service business wants its website and its business tools in one account. |
| iter0 | Launch page built from a brief | Launch CEO, iter0's chat agent, asks about the buyer, offer, proof, page order and next action, then builds one editable page. iter0 can publish each site at its own <name>.iter0.app address (your plan sets how many can be live at once). Export gives you the page as HTML or as a ZIP of site files. | You know the product but not yet what the page should promise, and one page is enough. |
What is an AI business builder?
An AI business builder makes a small business's website and the tools around it. Durable's homepage is titled 'AI Business Builder'. Next to the website generator it lists an image studio, SEO tools, reviews, bookings, a CRM and payment processing. Its customer groups are home services, health and wellness, professional services, food and events, pet and auto, and creative and digital businesses.
A startup launch page does a different job. It explains a product to a buyer who has never heard of it and asks for a signup or a demo request. That takes a clear message and real proof. Bookings and a customer list matter less. Superframeworks' roundup of landing page builders for SaaS founders puts Framer first and Lovable second. It puts Durable tenth and last, and calls it better suited to service businesses than to SaaS.
For SaaS founders: what the landing page must do
A SaaS page works when a visitor who has never seen your product can say what it does and what it costs to try. Give the builder the real answer to both. The startup templates on iter0, such as the Scheduling SaaS Website and the Product Analytics Website, show section orders that suit software.
- On the first screen, name the buyer and the job, show the product in a real screenshot or recording, state the plan or trial terms, and offer one action such as start free, book a demo or join the waitlist.
- Hand the builder your current pricing and plan limits, two or three real product screens, the integrations you support today and any customer quotes you have permission to publish. Mark anything undecided as unknown.
- Before launch, match the price on the page to your billing page, click the signup button through to a working form, find the source in your files for every integration or compliance claim, and look at the first screen at phone width.
For AI product founders: what to show when the output varies
When your product's output changes from run to run, one screenshot proves little. Show one real input next to the output it produced, and label the pair as an example. Put the limits beside the claims they limit: languages, file types, length and known failure cases. Say how usage is metered.
- Bring transcripts or outputs you have the right to show, the names of any models or providers you are willing to state, your usage or credit rules and your data-handling policy.
- Run the example yourself before launch. Publish no accuracy or time-saved figure without a measurement behind it, and click the demo link.
For developer-tool founders: let the visitor try it from the page
Developers judge a tool by trying it. Take the visitor from the headline to a first successful install or call without sending them off to find the docs. Put an install command or a short working code sample near the top, link the docs and API reference, show current pricing and limits, and name the versions and platforms you support.
Paste in a snippet you have run yourself, with the package name, the current version and links to the docs, the changelog and the repository. Then run that snippet in a clean project. Code blocks should scroll instead of clipping at phone width, every docs link should open, and the version on the page should match the one you published.
Where an AI builder is not enough
A page generator is the wrong tool for some startup sites. The iter0 pages comparing Framer, Webflow, Lovable and v0 each say when the other tool is the better choice.
- The site is part of the product. If visitors log in, pay or save data on the same site, you need product code from Lovable, v0 or your own repository. Lovable generates the backend, database and authentication from plain language.
- Several people edit the site every week. A marketing team that publishes weekly and manages its content in a CMS wants Framer or Webflow, where editing, content and publishing sit in one place.
- You want the site and its business tools in one account. Durable puts bookings, a CRM and payment processing next to the site generator, and Framer includes hosting, SEO tools and a CMS.
- You can't yet say who the product is for. Talk to buyers first. A polished page can hide an unclear offer.
Where iter0 fits
iter0 fills one row of the table: you have a product, you need a launch page, and you haven't settled what the page should say. You chat with Launch CEO, which asks about the buyer, the offer, the proof you can publish, the order of the page and the next action. iter0 then builds an editable page and can show you three design directions. It also starts from your current site or from a design reference you are allowed to use. A page build costs 1 credit, an AI edit costs half a credit and manual edits cost nothing. The Free plan includes 3 credits a month, Hobby (US$5) includes 15 and Pro (US$25) includes 100.
Use iter0 to build your launch page, and Lovable, v0 or your own code for the product behind it. iter0 can publish each site at its own <name>.iter0.app address (your plan sets how many can be live at once) (beta). Export from your signed-in projects gives you the page as HTML, or a ZIP of site files for a multi-page site. Developers start builds and edits from their own agents through iter0's MCP server.
Put the brief into practice
A launch page should make the buyer, promise, proof, and next action obvious. iter0 uses this same standard when it turns a brief or reference site into a builder-ready page.
